My mom got a Nokia C2-01 circa 2012 and it came with a 512 meg sd card. We should still have that card somewhere

I had a K750i. It was a great phone and I too swapped its firmware for the W800i firmware. The joystick eventually wore out and it was replaced with K850i

I was impressed with this device I wish I had one when it was new. I used to use a palm to listen to music I forgot all about that until I saw this.

Windows 8.1 did brought back the Start button and made directly to desktop instead of starr screen when turning on PC.

Its not even just handheld electronics with this "you fix it, it wont work anyway" crap. We've already got cars and trucks that become difficult to maintain electrically functional after a period of time, as they know the government requires no warning lights on the dash for a road worthy certificate. The components are no longer available new, and trying to get an airbag or abs light to go away just so that you can be a second or third owner of a car that is otherwise faultless is infuriating, on my car it had an airbag light, the airbag was fine, clock spring in the column was fine, gm tech 2 diagnostics didnt show any faults in the system, but the light persisted. Turns out that there is some sort of g force sensor in the airbag computer that once tripped, bricks the airbag computer, comms are no longer available, but it will show the signal for a fault to the instrument cluster computer, but not to the tech2/aldl port. The only fix was to buy another car within the same year/month of vins. And install its airbag computer and instrument cluster, which then required me to use the body control module and ecu from that car also, in order for it to all communicate correctly with no faults. I will note at the time, the car was worth $300. So for less determined people it wouldnt have been attempted im sure, but for me it was a challenge i accepted and won. I will note i then replaced the airbag computer with one from a saudi arabian delivered commodore, which came factory without an airbag, only seat belt pretensioners, and learned how to re flash the cluster ecu to accept comms with it, then used the gm tech2 software to recalibrate the system so that it understood it had no airbag in the steering wheel, therefore only displaying a fault light upon key on to show it did illuminate, and now will only show a fault if theres a problem with the airbag computer or the pretensioners. It was a massive months long saga and has resulted in a technically unroadworthy car, but... The car now has a nardi steering wheel, and no airbag system faults. There are similar issues related to the ecu and transmission destroying faults in the model two generations previous, where if you didnt have it dealer serviced, over time it would end up constantly destroying the clutches for 3rd and 4th gear resulting in you replacing the transmission or having it rebuilt, only for it to eat that transmission the first time you towed or had a full car load of people and did 100kmh for a long distance. If you had it dealer serviced they would reprogram the ecu after the run in period, removing the code that locked it in 3rd and 4th simultaniously resulting in either the torque converter clutch or the 3/4 clutch slipping to destruction. Im unsure if that was simply an oversight or if it was done intentionally to cause people to take it to gm for servicing.

I had Nokia 6600…my 1st Symbian device from 2003…few Motorola and a Nokia phones in between..then Nokia 95….ended Symbian experience in 2011 with Nokia C5 - touch screen Symbian….then on to Samsung galaxy S2…S Series all the way…now on S24+

Always wanted to own a Communicator. Sadly, the best I could afford was an N72. Still super fun though. You could hack N-Gage games into it, and it had more RAM than the N-Gage, making the gameplay a lot smoother. Older tech was more janky, therefore more fun to play around with. The only living remnants of that era is the TI84+ and similar calculators. I want to have one, but those are insanely costly. I tried ordering an used one, but it got lost in transport.

Windows 8.1 is unironically one of my favorite Windows versions. WIndows 10 just felt lifeless because they basically threw out all the colorfulness. and laggier too. That's why I downgraded to 8.1. Because 8 was optimized for low end touchscreen laptops

The audio in this video was really good. This device tickles all my mini computer retro metal, durable thingamajig itches. Then see all the effort you put into it to make it usable was quite a rollercoaster. This was a terific video. Thankyou for making it. Technology is amazing. ^^

You deleted touch screen drivers that had proprietary firmware. Even with installing a new driver, it will never function again

How did you manage to get the windows 95 installer to let you install it from the drive the install files were on? Did you partition the card? In the past ive tried, possibly incorrectly, to do the same, with no luck, the installer said that it cant install to the same drive the installation files are located

A friend of mine recently gave me an old Asus Transformer T100 tablet with a removable keyboard, it's running windows 8 and I can see exactly what Windows 8 was going for BUT...... Back in 2013 I bought a Asus G46VW 'Gaming' laptop that was running windows 8, no touch screen... it was utter crap, the worst 'non touch' device OS.... I think Microsoft gets so deep into an idea they don't stop to think about their main customer base(see Windows 11 for more information). P.S. Great video as always!!

I bought this phone 3 times, last was n95 8gb version.

The first time I used window 8.1 was on a Nokia lumia 630 it ran like butter on that phone to me it's one of the most underrated window versions because it felt futuristic it had it's bad sides but I feel like if they given it more time and optimize it then it would have been one of greatest window operating systems

I wonder how well it could handle ReactOS or EmuELEC. If I had one, I think I'd updrade the SSD, and dual boot XP or 7 for playing old games, and Debian + XFCE for going online.

It may be the only Nokia phone and N-series Nokia phones which impresssed me in past. No offense to Nokia fans
